Day 2 - Dieta Consultation
Preparing for the Journey: Tobacco Purge & Ayahuma Dieta
Yesterday evening, we began our preparation for the upcoming ayahuasca ceremony with a tobacco purge—a powerful cleansing ritual used in Amazonian shamanic traditions. This practice helps clear out stagnant energies, emotional blockages, and physical toxins, creating a purified state for deeper healing work. The purge is intense yet deeply rejuvenating, leaving the body and spirit lighter and more open to the wisdom of the plants.
Today, I met with the shaman to receive his diagnosis for my dieta. He recommended Ayahuma, the spirit of the headless tree, as my master plant for a month-long dieta. Ayahuma is known for its grounding energy, protection, and ability to strengthen one’s spiritual vision. Through this dieta, I will deepen my connection with the plant, receiving its teachings in solitude and through the guidance of the shaman.
During the ayahuasca ceremony, the shaman will also assess my energy more deeply, using the medicine’s vision to determine if additional plants are needed for my healing journey. Each plant has its own unique spirit and purpose, and through this sacred process, I am opening myself to the wisdom of the jungle.

In the context of Amazonian shamanism, a "dieta" refers to a period of deep introspection and connection with a specific plant spirit, often involving consuming only that plant for a set time, which can lead to profound personal healing, spiritual growth, and a deeper understanding of oneself and the natural world by providing insights into subconscious patterns and allowing for a powerful cleansing process on both physical and energetic levels; essentially, it's a way to access guidance and teachings from the plant spirit through a focused, solitary practice.
Plants I have dietad up until this point are; boahuasca, ajos kiros, chuchawasi and Bobinsana..
Key points about dietas:
Deep connection with plants:
The primary purpose of a dieta is to establish a deep relationship with a chosen plant spirit, which is believed to have unique healing properties and wisdom to share.
